On Tuesday, the Yahoo! Local & Maps blog announced some new updates recently implemented to its Yahoo! Maps application.

“Some of us will go through some awfully long detours just to get to our favorite freeways,” Yahoo! wrote, “but it’s not always easy to know the best way to get there.”

To provide you with the perfect route, Yahoo! added a “drag & drop” feature which allows you to alter the route based on constraints and interests. If you’re dissatisfied with the results Yahoo! gives you, you can literally “pick up your route and drop it somewhere else” until you find the best route for your trip.

Yahoo! mentioned that you can even “tug on the route again until it’s perfect.”

The blog post assured that you can always undo any route changes made with the drag/drop feature or return to the original results if your alterations take you too far from your home… goal.

Yahoo! Maps will also provide a comparison of route elements such as mileage and estimated time.

“This would be great for long trips,” Yahoo! contends, “where you want to see some interesting detours or scenic routes.”

A few other changes Yahoo! announced are added information for business map searches, specifically “photos and user review quotes”  as well as unlimited storage for saving addresses of your popular searches.
