On Wednesday,
Brandon Falls with the Search Quality Team posted in Google’s Webmaster Central Blog that the top search company has recently created a SEO Starter Guide for webmasters of all levels to apply to their websites of all sizes. The Search Engine Optimization Starter Guide, available through Google, includes some basic SEO tips, How-To tips, and general advice webmasters and web designers can use to boost their chances of being successfully crawled and indexed by Google spiders.
Keep in mind that this is not an extensive SEO manual; the guide provides an overview of “around a dozen common areas that webmasters might consider optimizing,” as Falls explains. Some of the most typical go-to areas for a quick SEO fix are:
- title and description meta tags
- URL structure
- site navigation
- content creation
- anchor text
The guide also features illustrations, Dos and Don’ts, as well as resourceful links to Google sites and external sites developers may find helpful.
In the same way that SEO isn’t a one-shot deal, Google plans to frequently update the SEO guide with new tactics and tips to keep it as fresh and relevant as possible.
