On Tuesday, Adam Ostrow with Mashable delivered great coverage on the latest from Mozilla. "Can you believe it's been more than a year since Firefox 3 debuted?" Ostrow began. I can't! But I'm so glad to join the rest of the Internet community in welcoming the
latest full version of Firefox, v. 3.5.
Almost exactly one year ago,
Firefox 3 swept the Internet by storm with a record-breaking
8 million downloads within 24 hours after going live.
Will Firefox 3.5 smash that impressive statistic?
First, let's take a peek at the new features Firefox 3.5 brings to the table:
- private browsing mode
- location-aware browsing
- Ogg Theora video format support.
- overall significant browser performance improvements
According to Ostrow, "Mozilla claims that Firefox 3.5 is twice as fast as Firefox 3, and a whopping 10x faster than Firefox 2.0."
Ostrow reported earlier this afternoon that just hours after its launch, the number of Firefox 3.5 downloads is closing in on 1 million. Incredible! Check out more coverage on the Mashable Social Media Guide.
Note: I downloaded Firefox 3.5 a few hours ago and have really enjoyed it since then. Subtle interface changes, super speedy, and all around smooth navigation. Yay!
